SS 316, 316L, and 316Ti flanges are premium-grade stainless steel components developed for high-performance applications requiring exceptional corrosion resistance, particularly in chloride-rich and marine environments. SS 316 is an austenitic stainless steel alloy containing molybdenum, which significantly enhances its ability to withstand pitting and crevice corrosion in aggressive industrial conditions. SS 316L is the low-carbon variant of 316, designed to improve weldability and minimize the risk of carbide precipitation during fabrication. SS 316Ti incorporates titanium to stabilize the structure during high-temperature exposure, offering superior resistance to intergranular corrosion and improved performance in cyclic thermal conditions. These flanges are available in standard configurations such as weld neck, slip-on, socket weld, blind, and threaded types, meeting specifications across ANSI, ASME, DIN, and JIS standards.
Technical Overview
The key distinction among SS 316, 316L, and 316Ti flanges lies in their alloy modifications and performance under specific service conditions. SS 316, composed of 16–18% chromium, 10–14% nickel, and 2–3% molybdenum, delivers robust mechanical strength and corrosion resistance, particularly in acidic and saline environments. SS 316L, with its reduced carbon content (maximum 0.03%), is especially beneficial in welding applications where preservation of corrosion resistance post-fabrication is critical. SS 316Ti, stabilized with titanium in the range of five times the carbon content, resists carbide precipitation even at elevated temperatures, making it ideal for high-temperature welded systems that require long-term structural stability.
All three variants provide excellent mechanical properties, including high tensile strength, excellent ductility, and strong resistance to stress corrosion cracking and oxidation. These flanges maintain their integrity under elevated pressure and temperature conditions, and they exhibit excellent fabrication characteristics with conventional machining and welding techniques. Their durability and chemical stability make them reliable in systems that face fluctuating thermal and chemical loads. The combination of formability, corrosion resistance, and heat tolerance makes the SS 316 series of flanges a preferred material choice in critical fluid handling systems.
Applications & Industry Use
SS 316/316L/316Ti Stainless Steel flanges are extensively used across industries that demand long-lasting, corrosion-resistant materials in challenging environments. These include sectors such as chemical processing, pharmaceuticals, marine engineering, oil and gas exploration, food and beverage processing, water treatment plants, and pulp and paper manufacturing. The molybdenum content in these flanges provides superior resistance to chlorides, making them ideal for coastal, offshore, and subsea applications. SS 316L flanges are widely used in welded piping systems and pressure vessels, while SS 316Ti is frequently selected for heat exchanger systems, flue gas scrubbers, and high-temperature pipelines where extended thermal exposure is expected.
Our supply network for SS 316, 316L, and 316Ti flanges spans key industrial markets across India, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA), Kuwait, Qatar, the Sultanate of Oman, Iran, and Iraq. These regions demand high-quality stainless steel components that can perform reliably in harsh operational environments and adhere to international compliance standards. Our flanges are trusted by engineering firms, EPC contractors, and industrial plant operators who prioritize precision, performance, and long-term value in their piping infrastructure.
